E.T. Memories

I was 7 years old when E.T The Extra Terrestrial came out. It still ranks in my mind as one of the greatest movies ever made, but it also meant a new friend to the Harapiak household.

Soon after the movie was released, I received as either a Christmas or birthday gift an E.T doll, and he has stuck with me since. For many years he sat on my bedside table, and even now in my adult years he still graces the windowsill in my room. Sometimes we have those certain possessions that will always carry meaning for us, and in my case my friend E.T carries some of my greatest childhood memories. You see, E.T used to have some "adventures."

Now before you assume that I've gone completely crazy... and not just partially crazy like you already know I am... I should explain a little bit more. In my childhood years, I would often wake up in the morning to find E.T gone from my bedside table. It usually didn't take long to find him however.... in fact it was usually during that morning trip to the bathroom, and laughter always followed.

My Best Re-Enactment Attempt
Yup, E.T would sneak out and make an attempt at shaving, and the results were always ugly in the hilarious sort of way. Sometimes it was just shaving cream, sometimes it was cotton swabs with "blood" dabbed here and there, but it was always amazing.  I don't know to this day where my Dad got the crazy idea to sneak into my room as I slept and take E.T for another adventure, but I will never forget it.
